August 1, 2006 : Caltex entered in to an agreement with DHL in Bangladesh as the exclusive supplier of lubricants in the Bangladeshi Market.
DHL recognised as the global market leader in international express, overland transport and air freight has an international network which links more than 220 countries and territories worldwide and has also been recognised for reliability, speed and global service, offering a full range of customised solutions – from express document shipping to supply chain management. In Bangladesh, DHL has been recognised as the preferred courier partner operating a fleet of 26 CNG vehicles. Established in 1979, DHL operates 18 service/express centers located in commercially important places in the country and offers expertise's in express, air and ocean freight, overland transport, contract logistic solutions as well as international mail services, combined with worldwide coverage and an in-depth understanding of local markets.
Caltex, a member of the renowned Chevron Corporation, have cultivated a long standing affiliation with the global courier company DHL. The association between the organizations commenced when DHL was appointed the preferred carrier for express mail and overnight delivery for parcels in the US. Expanding on this partnership, Caltex and Chevron have taken advantage of DHL’s worldwide network to facilitate their international operations as well.
Caltex commenced operation to Bangladesh in April 2006 through an export venture by Caltex Lubricants Lanka Limited to capitalise on the expanding lubricants market in Bangladesh. “The Success of this operation has resulted in greater economies of scale which has been leveraged for the benefit of Sri Lankan consumers” said Imal Fonseka, General Manager – Sales & Marketing for Caltex Sri Lanka. Caltex also export to Maldives, Re-Union, Mauritius and India.
