February 2, 2006 : Caltex Lubricants Lanka Limited, the pre-eminent lubricant marketer in Sri Lanka has extended their support once again to Dhammisara Vidyalaya, Nattandiya. The company will join into an agreement yet again with the school to sponsor their Volleyball Team for another two years. The team was titled National School Champions in 2003, and over the years has competed both at national and international levels.
At the school’s awards ceremony held in Nattandiya recently organised in recognition of the team’s outstanding performance during the year 2004 / 2005, Managing Director of Caltex Lubricants Lanka Limited presented the Principal of Dhammisara Vidyalaya, Nattandiya with a letter of commitment indicating an extension in the sponsorship towards the team.
Speaking at the occasion, Managing Director of Caltex, Mr. Kishu Gomes stressed on the importance of developing leadership skills through sports and encouraged the students to work towards development these skills in order to meet future challenges both academically and professionally. He stated that “Leadership is about thinking and doing things differently. It is something that we all posses and it is up to each and every one of us to identify and develop it.”
Other distinguished guests at the event were the Hon. Minster Dilan Perera and the Deputy Minister of Ports and Aviation Mr. Dayasritha Tissera.
Similar to the earlier agreement signed between Caltex Lubricants Lanka Limited and Dhammisara Vidyalaya, Nattandiya in February 2004, this agreement too will provide the equipment necessary for the activities of the school’s volleyball teams over the assigned period.
Caltex, apart from being the market leader in the Lubricant business, has also made their mark in sponsoring and partnering many sports events. The name Caltex which has been synonymously associated with rugby over the years has now even extended to the sponsorships of a number of schools sports events in the country.
