The book is part of a major awareness building campaign designed to educate citizens on the importance of preserving Sri Lanka's National hydro – cultural heritage, jointly presented by Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC and Kalasoori Sathischandra Edirisinghe’s Mihindu Cultural Foundation.

Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC, the pre eminent marketer of ‘Caltex’, ‘Havoline’ and ‘Delo’ brand of lubricants in Sri Lanka together with the Mihindu Cultural Foundation recently launched a highly informative and educational book for school children on Sri Lanka’s National Hydro-culture and Water Heritage under the theme titled “Water & Life”.

During the campaign, the book will be donated to over two thousand school libraries island-wide. The ‘Water & Life’ book has been designed to promote the importance of water resource conservation, anti-contamination and its impact on the socio-economic landscape of the country. The book contains an array of images depicting Sri Lanka’s extraordinary aquatic ecosystem, together with other vital educational information related to ‘Water & Life’.

“Water is critical not only to life, but also to the economic growth of a nation and its environmental outcomes. Due to the scarcity of water, continued economic growth can only be achieved at the expense of the environment. This being a significant concern for all citizens, the ‘Water & Life’ book is a timely initiative and vehicle to create ‘environmentally-conscious’ advocates amongst the school children, thereby taking a critical step forward with our present generation towards strengthening Sri Lanka’s future prosperity and sustainable growth” commented Mr.Kishu Gomes, Managing Director/CEO, Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC.

Parallel to the ‘Water & Life’ exhibition series that was inaugurated in September last year, Chevron embarked on the second phase of the Water Conservation Project this year, to thousands of farmer communities and school children living in Anuradhapura, Kebithigollewa, Galgamuwa, Kurunegala, Pollonnaruwa, Hambantota and the Monaragala District.

“Water is a valuable resource and is essential to sustaining the well-being of all Sri Lankans. ‘Water & Life’ is the first dedicated awareness building campaign designed to educate all citizens on the importance of preserving Sri Lanka's National hydro – cultural heritage. It reiterates the Company’s commitment towards promoting economic growth in the country” he continued.

Chevron has always had an unstinted passion towards community development. For several years, Chevron has partnered in numerous rural & community development initiatives, practiced as a concerted strategy to uplift, support and promote a better tomorrow for all its valuable stakeholders.
