Caltex Partners for the Fourth Consecutive Year in the “Nena Guna Thilina” Presidential Book Project for Rural Schools

asdChevron Lubricants Lanka PLC (CLLP), marketer of Caltex branded lubricants in Sri Lanka, has been actively spearheading socio-economic and cultural development projects through its development efforts for local communities for nearly two decades.


The Company’s most recent CSR project is the collaboration with the Government, to annihilate the learning barrier in the country faced by rural schools. Caltex officials recently met with Mr. Lalith Weeratunga, Secretary to the President at the Presidential Secretariat to mark the Company’s support towards the ‘Nena Guna Thilina’ Presidential Book Project for the 4th consecutive year.


Under this special community programme, hundreds of children in less privileged schools receive an equal opportunity to education with access to very insightful and developmental reading material such as encyclopedias and other books by acclaimed authors.


Over 950 rural schools have benefited under the programme to date, where each school received a book pack valued at Rs.75,000/-. Caltex has contributed over Rs.4 Million towards this project, providing a new developmental bridge for school children from less privileged communities across Sri Lanka.

This year’s donation by Caltex contributes towards the significant mark of 10,000 books gifted under the Presidential Book Project to date.
